The outdoor smart charging piles, also known as outdoor Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations or chargers, has been a critical part of the growing EV ecosystem. These devices provide the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles to recharge their batteries conveniently and efficiently. Advanvision’s sunlight readable touch displays/HMIs can be used to provide an intuitive and user-friendly interface for EV owners to interact with the outdoor charging pile. Users can easily select charging options, monitor the charging process, and make payments through a touch screen. The sunlight readable screen can show real-time information such as charging rates, time remaining, and charging costs, making it easy for users to track their charging session. Using a high brightness sunlight readable touch monitors or HMIs in an outdoor charging pile (EV charging station) under bright sunlight can provide several benefits. Given the particularity of outdoor use scenarios, they usually have the following characteristics.
Sunlight Visibility
Bright sunlight can create challenges for outdoor displays as it can cause glare and make it difficult to read the screen. To address this, Advanvision typically provide AR coatings for the touchscreen or cover glass of sunlight readable touch monitors/HMIs, and at the same time we also provide exceeding 1,000 nits (candelas per square meter) lcd panels for the outdoor touch displays, to combat the effects of direct sunlight and provide excellent visibility even in bright conditions. The use of auto-adjusting brightness and contrast settings can help optimize the display's visibility based on the current lighting conditions. In order to improve the display effect under sunlight, we also adopted optical binding technology for them. Optical bonding is a process where the LCD panel is laminated directly to the touchscreen or cover glass, reducing air gaps that can cause reflections and improve sunlight readability.
Weather Resistance
Outdoor charging piles are exposed to various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and extreme temperatures. The outdoor touch displays should be designed to withstand these conditions. They are often rated with high Ingress Protection (IP) ratings (e.g., IP65 front, full IP65 or higher) to protect against dust, rain, and water splashes. And sealed enclosures and gaskets are used to prevent moisture and dust from entering the display housing. Weather resistance also means that our outdoor waterproof touch monitors/HMIs must be rain proof, allowing them to operate precisely when there is rain on the screens.
Durability and Robustness
Given that charging stations are typically installed in public spaces and are subject to potential vandalism, it's important to choose a display that is robust and tamper-resistant. Tempered glass or vandal-resistant screens can help protect the display. The sunlight readable waterproof touch monitors/HMIs 's construction are also often rugged, with durable materials to withstand potential physical damage.
Wide Temperature Range
Since outdoor electric vehicle smart charging piles are usually installed in harsh outdoor environments, so Advanvision’s touch displays/HMIs are typically designed to operate in a wide temperature range, ensuring they can function effectively in extreme heat or cold.
Remote Monitoring and Management
Implement remote monitoring and management capabilities for the touch display. This enables operators to remotely troubleshoot issues, update software, and gather data on usage and performance.
Advanvision’s sunlight-readable touch displays/HMIs significantly improve the usability and reliability of outdoor intelligent charging piles by addressing the challenges posed by bright sunlight and outdoor conditions. They contribute to a positive user experience and help ensure that the charging process is efficient and hassle-free for electric vehicle owners.
